AI and integration work · Ohio

Software for the problem you've worked around for years.

We help small and midsized companies put AI and modern tooling on the problems that never got fixed. The spreadsheet three people depend on. The two systems that don't talk. The report that takes a person three days to assemble by hand.

Running in production today for vending route operators, vehicle storage, multi-location entertainment venues, and field service teams.

What we fix

Four problems we see over and over

Your systems don't talk to each other

Your CRM says one number, your POS says another, and someone reconciles the difference by hand every month. We build the connector — real API work against real systems, not a nightly CSV export that somebody forgets to run.

The business runs on a spreadsheet

It started as a quick fix. Now three people depend on it, one person understands it, and nobody dares change it. We replace it with something that has roles, history, and an audit trail, without losing the logic that made it work in the first place.

Your data is trapped on a server you don't control

The numbers you need sit in a SQL database behind your firewall, owned by a vendor with no interest in helping you get at them. We've pulled that data out and made it answerable without opening a single port.

Work falls through the cracks

Leads sit unassigned. Invoices get paid above the contracted rate. Counts get entered wrong and nobody notices until month end. These are routing and checking problems, and they are what AI is actually good at — with a person in the loop and a record of every decision it made.

If yours isn't on this list, it probably rhymes with one of them.

How we work

Diagnose first. Build second.

01 Diagnostic

We sit with the people doing the work and map what actually happens, not what the org chart says it does. You get a written picture of the problem and an honest answer about whether software is the right fix. A week or two.

02 Pilot

We build the smallest real thing that proves it: one workflow, your real data, in front of the people who will use it. You find out whether it works before you commit to the rest. Usually four to eight weeks.

03 Build and hand off

The full system, your team trained on it, and documentation they will actually read. You own the code and you own the data. If you want to take it in-house from there, that's a good outcome.

We will tell you when you don't need us. That happens more often than you'd expect.

Why us

We run businesses too

Acorn Works came out of operating multi-location businesses, not out of a consultancy. Most of the work on this site was built for companies we own or run ourselves — which means we shipped it, used it every day, found what was wrong with it, and rebuilt it properly. We know what a bad rollout costs because we have paid for it out of our own pocket.

That is also why we will not sell you a platform. We build the specific thing your business needs and nothing beyond it, and we ship in phases so you can stop after any one of them and still have something that works.
